Strava athletes set World Record

Please see below for the news that Strava athletes have set the World Record for the most half marathons run in a single day. In total, 75,860 ran a half marathon on Sunday 10th September 2017, making history in the process. The challenge was born out of Strava’s partnership with the Simplyhealth Great North Run, the world’s largest half marathon which took place on the same day.

London, UK – 12th September 2017 – Strava, the social network for athletes, last Sunday encouraged runners from around the globe to help set the World Record for the most half marathons run in a single day on Sunday 10th September 2017.

75,860 Strava athletes from around the world took up the challenge by completing a half marathon distance or more, setting a World Record in the process.

Gareth Mills, UK Country Manager, said: “As a proud supporter of the Great North Run, we wanted to encourage runners around the world to take part in The Great 13.1 Record and set a world record for the most amount of half marathons run in a single day. We’re delighted to say that over 75,000 runners joined us for the challenge on Strava on Sunday 10th and helped make history.”
